Stemedix Review: John M. (Glen Burnie, MD)

Hello, my name is Joe and I was referred to Stemedix by a friend who visited Stemedix for treatment. I was born with a disability (Cerebral Palsy) and I have had a lifetime of surgeries and rehabilitation throughout my lifetime. I am very active and have played sports, fished, and did everything I wanted to. I especially love tenpin and duckpin bowling. Up until about a year ago. I was tenpin bowling in several leagues, but my right knee was rubbing bone on bone. I’ve had several knee surgeries on that particular knee because of my active lifestyle so I went to my orthopedic surgeon to try and assist me after several surgeries and cortisone shots and gel shots to no avail I ended up at a crossroads in my life with constant knee pain and no relief in sight. After visiting several other knee specialist. I was told that they couldn’t help me because of my preexisting condition (my disability). They told me that unless I couldn’t walk that couldn’t help me. That was not an option I could accept. I then heard about Stemedix through a friend who is a patient of Stemedix. So I contacted Sarah and we discussed my disability, medical history, expectations, treatment, and recovery. So after working through all that. I decided to have the treatment that was recommended by the Stemedix team (Severe O/A treatment). I received my treatment on 6 May of this year. The total time of the treatment was about an hour and a half. Doctor Mike Mensa treated me for my procedure and I can say from the beginning to the end of my procedure I couldn’t ask for a better person to treat me. We initially started with an introduction and then a chat about how the treatment would be administered and he took all my apprehension and anxiety away. He really made me feel at ease with the whole experience of what was going to transpire. The treatment went excellent. He administered the treatment and I only received two injections and I didn’t feel anything. As soon as I received my treatment the pain in my knee went away instantly. It was unbelievable. I was really pleased with the visit; after the treatment I was able to walk out of the office under my own power with no assistance from crutches or a cane. Currently I’m at the 6 month mark. I must admit the first 4.5 months were peaks and valleys. At times I was very nervous and skeptical about the treatment that I had received. But, thanks to Sarah (my care coordinator) she reassured me that everything would work out well and it has. Sarah was awesome in that she walked me through the whole process with continued support that I would have the results that I was looking for in the end and she was right. My knee is feeling great and I’m actually going to try bowling again in the near future. This treatment that I have received has changed my whole outlook on my future. My knee currently does not hurt. I do anything I want to. I gets a little tired and stiff at the end of the day but that’s because I’m still working on the strength part of my recovery. I have my active life back now. I ride my stationary bike and an e-bike for exercise. I also do other exercises as well. I’m back !!!! Better than ever. I will never let my handicap get the best of me. I will keep fighting. In closing I would like to to the staff at Stemedix (Sarah, Dr. Mike Menza, and Terrance) they were awesome and I wish them all the best.
