I wanted to share some specific progress that’s happened recently. My quad muscle on my right leg is now almost fully activated, and over the last couple of months my left quad has begun firing as well—something I honestly didn’t know would ever be possible again. I can now stand relatively easily with KAFOs, and I’m able to walk using just one KAFO and one AFO. My hamstrings have reactivated, and my glutes are now fully working, which has been huge for my stability and overall mobility. I’ve continued doing physical therapy three times a week and plan to keep that up long-term to build on the gains I’ve made. Every improvement feels like another piece of my life coming back. At my one-year injury review in June, my spinal specialist downgraded me from an ASIA A (complete) to an ASIA C (incomplete).
